Through the Kern Adult Education Consortium, adult schools and community colleges across Kern, Tulare, Inyo, and Mono Counties are working together to expand access to adult education and develop programs that align with workforce needs. The Consortium works closely with the local Workforce Development Board to determine what certification and training programs should be offered to help students obtain employment upon graduation.
Students can earn a high school diploma or prepare for GED/HiSET exams at local adult schools, with no out-of-pocket expenses. Committed educators help guide students through the programs, which also include ESL and citizenship. Students who attend college programs have access to affordable associate degree and certificate programs in areas that have a strong workforce demand.
We are committed to empowering adult learners by providing the education and training needed to secure meaningful employment, achieve economic mobility, and embrace lifelong learning. By working hand-in-hand with our regional partners, we ensure every student has the support, skills, and resources to thrive in their chosen educational and workforce pathway and reduce barriers to personal success.

The Kern Adult Education Consortium brings together local organizations to offer adult education programs and services designed to help students achieve their academic and career goals. Our consortium operates under a collaborative governance structure that ensures a unified approach to regional educational development and community partnerships.
The KAEC Board is made up of representatives from each of our member organizations, officially designated by their local boards or elected Superintendents. These members play a key role in guiding the direction of the consortium by coordinating regional program development, creating and implementing program plans, filing required reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Additional representatives and alternates from each organization may also attend board meetings to contribute to the discussion and decision-making processes.
The Kern Adult Education Consortium is made up of 15 locations in California, across the Central Valley and the Eastern Sierras – each offering a variety of educational and career opportunities for adult learners. Adult Schools and Colleges are ready to serve new adult learners looking to complete their High School Diploma, earn a GED or HiSET, learn English, study for a new career, earn an industry recognized certification, or just explore new opportunities to improve their future.
Founded in 2014, KAEC includes community colleges, K-12 school districts, and county offices of education.
